Building - fitting the undercarriage & cutting and fitting the canopy

The undercarriage was first fitted quite early in the build process. It came off again, as it makes the aeroplane quite tall and difficult to work on. The fuselage stands were put back on for the majority of the build until it came time to install the undercarriage permanently. As our aeroplane lives in England and at a grass airfield, we opted for larger tyres, which in turn meant we had to re-work the spats due to the extra height. We started work on the canopy in September - it was a warm September but we still needed the heaters to get the perspex up to temperature for ease of cutting.
